Cancer astrologers are being told to avoid using cancer symbols in their astrology houses and that the practice is a sign of the disease’s spreading.
The National Cancer Astrology Society said it has sent a letter to more than 4,000 astrologer groups saying they need to remove the symbols from their astrological houses and associated websites.
Astrology houses are places where astrologists and other professionals conduct astrology, or practise a specific form of astrology, for personal, professional or religious reasons.
They are not places where cancer patients or those suffering from other health conditions can consult with astrologist, the society said in a statement.
In 2017, the NCAOS said astrology was not a valid scientific method to treat cancer.
It also warned that astrology “cannot be used to diagnose cancer”.
“Astrology should be used for a wide range of scientific, medical and non-medical purposes,” the society added.
“It should not be used as a means to predict the outcome of a cancer diagnosis.”
Astrology has become increasingly popular in recent years as the disease has been blamed for causing many more deaths than heart disease and strokes.
Astrology students, for example, are being encouraged to become astrologians in the United States to help prevent cancer.
The Astrological Society also said that people should be aware that astrologors have been known to use inappropriate and misleading astrology for years.
Many astrologic houses have links to religious institutions or private schools, the group said.
“Astrological house use is an expression of a particular religious belief or belief system,” the NCCOS said.
The association said that “astrology is one of the oldest forms of astrolognomy”.
It said the practice of astrologically identifying the sign of a person or animal using a combination of physical and symbolic elements is the oldest known practice.
“It is a form of religious astrology in which the interpretation of the physical and spiritual aspects of the signs of the zodiac are used to create and interpret the person or animals sign,” the group added.
“While astrology is an ancient practice, it has grown significantly in the past 100 years as more astrologes have been trained in it and more people have become interested in astrology.”
Astrologers have a reputation for using astrolography to help treat and manage illnesses.
In December, an Australian man, who had Stage 4 bowel cancer, used a combination astrology and acupuncture treatment to manage his illness.
But the use of astro-facial techniques to diagnose and treat cancer has raised concerns about its safety.
Doctors have warned that using a sign or symbol for medical purposes could put patients at risk of contracting the disease.
Cancer is a disease that can affect the whole body, including the brain and spinal cord.
